Resolution
recognizing
the
cities
and
counties
in
the

state
of
Iowa
that
have
achieved
gender
balance
on

their
boards,
commissions,
committees,
and
councils.

WHEREAS,
Iowa
law
requires,
with
some
exceptions,
4
that
all
appointive
boards,
commissions,
committees,
5
and
councils
of
the
state
and
all
appointive
boards,
6
commissions,
committees,
and
councils
of
political
7
subdivisions
of
the
state
achieve
gender
balance
in
8
their
membership;
and
9
WHEREAS,
Iowa’s
cities
and
counties
have
10
made
a
concerted
effort
to
meet
gender
balance
11
requirements;
and
12
WHEREAS,
maintaining
gender
balance
on
appointive
13
boards,
commissions,
committees,
and
councils
at
14
the
state
and
local
government
level
facilitates
the
15
ability
of
Iowans
to
participate
in
government;
NOW
16
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,

That
the
House
of
Representatives
recognizes
and
19
congratulates
those
cities
and
counties
that
have
20
achieved
gender
balance
on
their
appointive
boards,
21
commissions,
committees,
and
councils.
