Section
600.9,
subsection
2,
paragraph
a,
1
subparagraph
(5),
Code
2019,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

and
necessary
living
expenses
of
the
mother

limited
to
the
costs
of
housing,
food,

utilities,
and
transportation
for
medical
purposes
related

to
the
pregnancy
and
birth
of
the
child,
in
an
amount
not

to
exceed
two
thousand
dollars
and
for
no
longer
than
thirty
7
days
after
the
birth
of
the
minor
person.
The
maximum
amount
8
specified
for
ordinary
and
necessary
living
expenses
of
the
9
mother
in
this
subparagraph
may
be
waived
by
the
juvenile
court
10
or
court
for
good
cause
shown.

is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

Act,

immediate

importance,

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
the
maximum
amount
of
$2,000,
of
28
allowable
expenses
for
ordinary
and
necessary
living
expenses
29
of
a
mother
for
no
longer
than
30
days
after
the
birth
of
a
30
minor
person
in
a
termination
of
parental
rights
or
adoption
31
proceeding,
may
be
waived
by
the
juvenile
court
or
court
for
32
good
cause
shown.
The
bill
takes
effect
upon
enactment.
