MEDICAID
——
REIMBURSEMENT
FOR
THE
REPAIR
OF
1
COMPLEX
REHABILITATION
TECHNOLOGY.
Under
both
Medicaid
2
managed
care
and
fee-for-service
administration
of
the
3
Medicaid
program,
the
department
of
health
and
human
services
4
shall
not
require
a
prescription
or
a
face-to-face
visit
5
for
reimbursement
of
a
provider
for
the
repair
of
complex
6
rehabilitation
technology,
if
the
complex
rehabilitation
7
technology
was
previously
prescribed
and
reimbursed
under
the
8
Medicaid
program.
For
the
purposes
of
this
section,
“complex
9
rehabilitation
technology”
means
items
classified
under
the
10
Medicare
program
as
durable
medical
equipment
used
for
mobility
11
that
is
individually
configured
for
an
individual
to
meet
12
the
individual’s
specific
and
unique
medical,
physical,
and
13
functional
needs
and
capacities
for
basic
activities
of
daily
14
living
and
instrumental
activities
of
daily
living
identified
15
as
medically
necessary.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
under
both
Medicaid
managed
care
20
and
fee-for-service
administration
of
the
Medicaid
program,
21
the
department
of
health
and
human
services
shall
not
22
require
provision
of
a
prescription
or
a
face-to-face
visit
23
for
reimbursement
of
a
provider
for
the
repair
of
complex
24
rehabilitation
technology,
if
the
complex
rehabilitation
25
technology
was
previously
prescribed
and
reimbursed
under
the
26
Medicaid
program.
The
bill
defines
“complex
rehabilitation
27
technology”
for
the
purposes
of
the
bill.
