80B.11D,
subsection
3,
Code
2025,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

3.
An
individual
who
submits
an
application
pursuant
to
3
subsection
1
shall,
at
a
minimum,
submit
proof
of
successful

completion
of
a
two-year
or
four-year
police
science
or
5
criminal
justice
program
at
an
accredited
educational
6
institution
in
this
state
approved
by
the
academy.

inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
short
course
law
enforcement
training
11
requirements.

Currently,
an
individual
who
is
not
a
certified
law
13
enforcement
officer
may
apply
for
attendance
at
a
short
course
14
of
study
at
an
approved
law
enforcement
training
program
if
15
the
individual
is
sponsored
by
a
law
enforcement
agency.
An
16
individual
who
submits
an
application
shall,
at
a
minimum,
17
submit
proof
of
successful
completion
of
a
two-year
or
18
four-year
police
science
or
criminal
justice
program
at
an
19
accredited
educational
institution
in
this
state
approved
by
20
the
academy.
21
The
bill
removes
the
requirement
that
the
two-year
or
22
four-year
police
science
or
criminal
justice
program
must
be
23
from
an
accredited
educational
institution
in
Iowa,
but
retains
24
the
requirement
that
the
two-year
or
four-year
police
science
25
or
criminal
justice
program
be
completed
at
an
accredited
26
educational
institution
approved
by
the
academy.
