  1  1    Section 1.  Section 97B.49B, subsection 1, paragraph e, Code
  1  2 2017, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph:
  1  3    NEW SUBPARAGRAPH.  (17)  A person employed by an employer
  1  4 under this chapter as a public safety telecommunicator who is
  1  5 not a member of the retirement system established in chapter
  1  6 97A or 411.
  1  7                           EXPLANATION
  1  8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1  9 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 10    This bill provides that persons employed as a public
  1 11 safety telecommunicator that are not otherwise a member of
  1 12 the retirement system in Code chapter 97A or 411 are included
  1 13 within the protection occupation category of the Iowa public
  1 14 employees' retirement system.
