Health
care
facilities
——
1
itemized
billing.

1.
For
purposes
of
this
section,
“health
care
facility”
3
means
an
institution
providing
health
care
services;
or
a
4
health
care
setting,
including
but
not
limited
to
a
hospital
5
or
other
licensed
inpatient
center,
an
ambulatory
surgical
6
or
treatment
center,
a
skilled
nursing
center,
a
residential
7
treatment
center,
a
diagnostic
center,
a
laboratory,
or
an
8
imaging
center;
or
a
rehabilitation
or
other
therapeutic
health
9
setting.

If
a
health
care
facility,
or
a
third
party
acting
on
11
behalf
of
a
health
care
facility,
bills
an
individual
for
12
health
care
services,
a
notification
must
be
included
with
13
the
bill
that
advises
the
individual
that
upon
request
the
14
individual
may
obtain
an
itemized
bill
at
no
charge.
If
the
15
individual
requests
an
itemized
bill,
the
health
care
facility
16
or
third
party
shall
timely
provide
the
individual
with
an
17
itemized
bill
which
shall
be
provided
in
the
same
manner
as
the
18
original
bill,
including
but
not
limited
to
delivery
via
the
19
United
States
postal
service
or
by
electronic
mail.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
22
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
if
a
health
care
facility,
or
a
third
24
party
acting
on
behalf
of
the
health
care
facility,
bills
an
25
individual
for
health
care
services,
a
notification
must
be
26
included
with
the
bill
that
advises
the
individual
that
upon
27
request
they
may
obtain
an
itemized
bill
at
no
charge.
If
28
requested,
the
health
care
facility
or
third
party
shall
timely
29
provide
the
individual
with
an
itemized
bill
in
the
same
manner
30
as
the
original
bill,
including
but
not
limited
to
delivery

via
the
United
States
postal
service
or
by

mail.

facility”
is
