Section
216.2,
subsection
17,
Code
2025,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

17.
“Sexual
orientation”
means
actual
or
perceived

heterosexuality,
homosexuality,
or
bisexuality.
“Sexual

orientation”
does
not
include
pedophilia
or
an
adult’s
sexual
5
attraction
to
minors.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Code
chapter
216
(civil
rights)
prohibits
discrimination
in
10
employment,
wages,
public
accommodations,
housing,
education,
11
and
credit
practices
based
upon
certain
characteristics
of
a
12
person,
including
sexual
orientation,
and
provides
remedies
for
13
such
violations.
Code
chapter
216
defines
“sexual
orientation”
14
as
the
actual
or
perceived
heterosexuality,
homosexuality,
15
or
bisexuality
of
a
person.
This
bill
provides
that
“sexual
16
orientation”
does
not
include
pedophilia
or
an
adult’s
sexual
17
attraction
to
minors.
