INNOVATIVE
CONGREGATE
MEAL
CONCEPTS

APPROPRIATION.
There
is
appropriated
from
the
general
fund

of
the
state
to
the
department
on
aging
for
the
fiscal
year
3
beginning
July
1,
2020,
and
ending
June
30,
2021,
the
following

amount,
or
so
much
thereof
as
is
necessary,
for
the
purpose
5
designated:

For
launching
or
expansion
of
innovative
concepts
in

providing
congregate
meals
to
older
individuals
as
authorized
8
by
the
federal
Older
Americans
Act:

The
funds
appropriated
in
this
section
shall
be
distributed

equally
to
the
six
area
agencies
on
aging
to
launch
or
expand

such
innovative
concepts
as
the
encore
cafe
and
projects
that

integrate
the
provision
of
a
meal
with
social
interaction
14
through
chef-led
cooking
demonstrations,
health
and
wellness
15
presentations,
evidence-based
health
programs,
and
other
social
16
activities
in
a
convenient
location.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
an
appropriation
from
the
general
fund

of
the
state
to
the
department
on
aging
for
the
fiscal
year

beginning
July
1,
2020,
and
ending
June
30,
2021,
for

or
expansion
of
innovative
concepts
in
providing
congregate

meals
to
older
individuals
as
