1.
Section
29C.9,
Code
2022,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

commission
shall,

agreed
to
by

responsible
for
the
activities
of
a
joint

service
board
if
substituted
for
a
joint
911
service
board

pursuant
to
section
34A.3,
subsection

Section
34A.3,
Code
2022,
is
amended
by
adding
the

following
new
subsection:

local

management
commission
may
be
substituted
for
the

joint

service
board

by
the

supervisors
of
the
county
in
which
the
joint

board

maintained.

b.
A
commission
shall
have
all
of
the
powers
of
a
joint
911

service
board
if
a
commission
is
substituted
for
the
joint
911

service
board
pursuant
to
paragraph
“a”
.

As
used
in
this
chapter,
“joint

service
board”

includes
a
commission
if
a
commission
is
substituted
for
the

pursuant
to

This
bill
authorizes
local
emergency
management
commissions

to
assume
the
duties
of
a
joint
911
service
board.

bill
provides
that
local
emergency
management

commissions
may
be
substituted
for
a
joint
911
service
board

required
under
Code
section
34A.3,
subsection
1,
by
the
board
29
of
supervisors
of
the
county
in
which
the
joint
911
service

board
is
maintained.
Additionally,
the
bill
provides
that
a

commission
shall
have
all
of
the
powers
of
a
joint
911
service

board
if
a
commission
is
substituted
for
the
joint
911
service

board.
The
bill
establishes
that,
for
purposes
of
Code
section

34A.3,
“joint
911
service
board”
includes
a
commission
