the

inclusion

this
explanation
does

This
bill
relates
to
public
safety
telecommunicators.
23
Code
section
80B.11C
requires
the
Iowa
law
enforcement
24
academy
(ILEA)
to
establish
minimum
standards
for
training
25
of
public
safety
telecommunicators.
“Public
safety
26
telecommunicator”
is
defined
as
a
person
who
serves
as
a
first
27
responder
by
receiving
requests
for,
or
by
dispatching
requests
28
to,
emergency
response
agencies
that
include
but
are
not
29
limited
to
law
enforcement,
fire,
rescue,
and
emergency
medical
30
services
agencies.

The
bill
changes
the
term
“communications
officer”
to
32
“public
safety
telecommunicator”
to
conform
with
the
term
used
33
by
ILEA
in
establishing
minimum
standards
for
training
of
34
public
safety
telecommunicators.
