1.
DIRECTIVE
TO
THE
DEPARTMENT
OF
HUMAN
SERVICES

CHILD
ABUSE
HOTLINE.
The
department
of
human
services
shall
2
adopt
rules
pursuant
to
chapter
17A
to
utilize
an
audio
script
3
for
the
child
abuse
hotline
which
shall
be
in
substantially
the
4
following
form:

The
primary
mission
at
the
department
of
human
services
is
6
to
protect
children,
improve
child
and
family
well-being,
and
7
support
and
preserve
families.
You
are
protected
by
law
from
8
any
liability
from
making
a
report
in
good
faith,
but
please
9
be
aware
it
is
against
the
law
to
intentionally
make
a
false
10
report
of
child
abuse
or
neglect.
If
you
suspect
that
a
child
11
is
being
abused,
neglected,
or
is
in
danger
of
abuse,
please
12
stay
on
the
line
and
your
call
will
be
answered
by
the
next
13
available
social
worker.
All
calls
will
be
recorded
and
are
14
kept
confidential.

The
department
of
human
services
shall
adopt
rules
pursuant
16
to
chapter
17A
to
develop
a
policy
concerning
the
child
17
abuse
hotline
requiring
an
intake
worker
receiving
a
report
18
of
suspected
child
abuse
to
read
a
written
narrative
of
19
the
reporter’s
statements
back
to
the
reporter
prior
to
the
20
conclusion
of
the
call.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
directs
the
department
of
human
services
to
25
adopt
rules
to
utilize
an
audio
script
for
the
child
abuse
26
hotline
that
includes
immunity
and
confidentiality
information
27
for
callers,
and
to
develop
a
policy
concerning
the
child
28
abuse
hotline
requiring
an
intake
worker
receiving
a
report
29
of
suspected
child
abuse
to
read
a
written
narrative
of
the
30
reporter’s
statements
back
to
the
reporter.
