Section
1.
Section
46.2,
subsection
1,
Code
2021,
is
amended
1
to
read
as
follows:

1.
The
resident
members
of
the
bar
of
each
congressional
3
district
shall
elect
,
subject
to
confirmation
by
the
senate,
4
two
eligible
electors
of
different
genders
to
the
state
5
judicial
nominating
commission.

Sec.
2.
APPLICABILITY.
This
Act
applies
to
electors
elected
7
to
the
state
judicial
nominating
commission
on
or
after
the
8
effective
date
of
this
Act.

EXPLANATION
10
The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
11
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
that
the
commissioners
to
the
state
13
judicial
nominating
commission
who
are
elected
by
the
resident
14
members
of
the
bar
of
each
congressional
district
are
subject
15
to
senate
confirmation.
Under
current
law,
such
commissioners
16
are
not
subject
to
senate
confirmation.
The
bill
applies
to
17
electors
elected
on
or
after
the
effective
date
of
the
bill.
