  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  70A.40  Elective public officer
  1  2 contact information.
  1  3    1. Within thirty days of an elective public officer swearing
  1  4 to an oath of office, the governmental entity the officer
  1  5 serves shall provide the officer with designated contact
  1  6 information with the governmental entity. A governmental
  1  7 entity shall cause to be published the contact information for
  1  8 each of the entity's elective public officers on an internet
  1  9 site maintained by the entity. An elective public officer may
  1 10 provide additional contact information that would normally
  1 11 be used to make contact with the officer to the governmental
  1 12 entity to be published as provided in this section for
  1 13 designated contact information.
  1 14    2.  a.  For the purposes of this section "contact
  1 15 information" means a street address, a telephone number, and
  1 16 an electronic mail address, and any other electronic contact
  1 17 information.
  1 18    b.  For the purposes of this section, "elective public
  1 19 officer" or "officer" means all of the following:
  1 20    (1)  Members of the general assembly.
  1 21    (2)  Members of a county board of supervisors.
  1 22    (3)  Members of a city council.
  1 23    (4)  Members of a board of directors of a school district.
  1 24                           EXPLANATION
  1 25 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 26 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 27    This bill requires publication of contact information for
  1 28 certain elective public officers, as defined in the bill,
  1 29 on the internet site of the governmental entity the officer
  1 30 serves. The bill requires that the governmental entity
  1 31 provide the officer with designated contact information and
  1 32 requires the governmental entity to publish designated contact
  1 33 information for each of the entity's elective public officers
  1 34 on an internet site maintained by the governmental entity.
  1 35 The bill also allows an elective public officer to provide
  2  1 additional contact information to the governmental entity to
  2  2 be published as provided in the bill for designated contact
  2  3 information.
