235A.15,

is
amended
by
adding
the
following
new
subparagraph:

if
the
data
concerns
a
person

employed
or
being
considered
for
employment
by
the
child
care

home.

is
amended
by
adding
the
following

subparagraph

The
person
is
being

considered
by
a
child
care
home
for
employment
involving
direct

responsibility
for
a
child
or
with
access
to
a
child
when

the
child
is
alone
or
when
the
person
is
employed
with
such

responsibilities.

inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
background
checks
for
persons
being
18
considered
for
employment
by
a
child
care
home.

Code
section
235A.15
grants
authorized
access
to
the
20
child
abuse
registry
to
certain
departments,
agencies,
and
21
individuals.
The
bill
authorizes
access
to
the
child
abuse
22
registry
to
an
administrator
of
a
child
care
home
as
defined
23
under
Code
chapter
237
if
the
data
concerns
a
person
employed
24
or
being
considered
for
employment
by
the
child
care
home.
25
Code
section
237A.5
requires
certain
persons
being
26
considered
for
licensure
or
registration
as
a
child
care
home
27
to
be
subject
to
a
record
check.
Under
current
law,
child
care
28
homes
are
not
required
to
be
licensed
and
registered
if
the
29
child
care
home
provides
care
for
five
or
fewer
children.
The
30
bill
provides
that
a
person
who
is
being
considered
by
a
child
31
care
home
for
employment
involving
direct
responsibility
for
32
a
child
or
with
access
to
a
child
when
the
child
is
alone
or
33
when
the
person
is
employed
with
such
responsibilities
shall
34
be
subject
to
a
record
check.
