                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
                BY  QUIRMBACH, MATHIS, and D. JOHNSON
  1  1 A Resolution recognizing and congratulating Andie
  1  2    Dominick on winning the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in
  1  3    editorial writing.
  1  4    WHEREAS, Ms. Dominick has been an editorial writer
  1  5 for the Des Moines Register since 2001, writing
  1  6 numerous editorials on health care policy in Iowa; and
  1  7    WHEREAS, Ms. Dominick was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer
  1  8 Prize in editorial writing for her editorials on the
  1  9 implementation and effects of managed care for Medicaid
  1 10 and other significant health care issues in Iowa; and
  1 11    WHEREAS, Ms. Dominick is one of seven Iowans
  1 12 in history to win the Pulitzer Prize in editorial
  1 13 writing; and
  1 14    WHEREAS, the Pulitzer Prize Board praised Ms.
  1 15 Dominick's work for "examining in a clear, indignant
  1 16 voice, free of cliche or sentimentality, the damaging
  1 17 consequences for poor Iowa residents of privatizing the
  1 18 state's administration of Medicaid"; and
  1 19    WHEREAS, Ms. Dominick has long shown a passion for
  1 20 writing on health care and related matters, including a
  1 21 series of editorials on professional licensing in Iowa
  1 22 for which she was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2014 and
  1 23 a memoir on growing up with diabetes; and
  1 24    WHEREAS, Ms. Dominick's editorials were based on
  1 25 extensive, collaborative, and factual reporting by her
  1 26 and other members of the Des Moines Register's newsroom
  1 27 staff; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 28    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  2  1 recognizes and congratulates Andie Dominick for her
  2  2 outstanding achievement in winning the 2018 Pulitzer
  2  3 Prize in editorial writing.
