WHEREAS,
Joan
(Joni)
Arnett
was
born
in
Des
Moines
4
to
Max
and
Maxine
Judkins,
who
instilled
in
their
two
5
children
a
love
for
learning,
the
virtues
of
kindness,
6
compassion,
hard
work,
and
perseverance,
and
the
7
importance
of
helping
anyone
who
might
need
it;
and
8
WHEREAS,
Joni
began
her
career
as
an
Iowa
Capitol
9
tour
guide
on
January
23,
1976,
and
for
the
past
25
10
years
has
been
the
supervisor
of
the
Iowa
Capitol
tour
11
guides;
and
12
WHEREAS,
Joni’s
deep
appreciation
for
and
knowledge
13
of
the
history
of
the
Iowa
Capitol
and
the
stories
of
14
all
of
the
people
who
played
a
part
in
its
planning,
15
construction,
adornment,
restoration,
and
maintenance
16
will
be
missed
beyond
measure;
and
17
WHEREAS,
throughout
her
career,
Joni
has
been
the
18
consummate
colleague,
supporting
legislators,
staff,

and
stepping
in
whenever
needed
to
lend

a
helping
hand;
and

WHEREAS,
Joni
has
become
a
friend
to
many,
and

her
love
of
the
Iowa
Capitol
and
her
desire
to
make

everyone
feel
welcome
shines
through
to
anyone
who
has
5
been
lucky
enough
to
spend
time
with
her
during
her
6
career;
and
7
WHEREAS,
Joni
leaves
the
Legislative
Services
Agency
8
to
engage
in
new
adventures,
including
traveling
and
9
spending
more
time
with
her
family,
including
her
10
daughter
Addison,
sons
Max
and
J.D.,
and
her
much
11
beloved
granddaughter,
Lola,
who
has
politely
requested
12
that
Joni
bring
her
a
new
toy
when
she
visits
next
13
week;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
That
Joan
Arnett
be

publicly
recognized
for
her
many
years
of
dedicated

service
to
the
state
of
Iowa,
the
Iowa
General

Assembly,
and
the
Legislative
Services
Agency,
and
18
congratulated
on
her
retirement;
and
19
BE
IT
FURTHER
RESOLVED,
That
a
formal
copy
of
this

resolution
be
presented
to
Joan
Arnett,
with
the

sincere
appreciation
and
best
wishes
of
the
Senate.
