Senate Resolution 6 - Introduced PAG LIN SENATE RESOLUTION NO. BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION 1 1 A Resolution amending the permanent rules of the senate 1 2 for the eighty=seventh general assembly relating to 1 3 formal requests for the drafting of bills. 1 4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That Rule 27, 1 5 unnumbered paragraph 1, of the permanent rules of 1 6 the senate, as adopted by the Senate during the 2017 1 7 Session in Senate Resolution 3, is amended to read as 1 8 follows: 1 9 No bill or joint resolution, except bills and 1 10 joint resolutions cosponsored by the majority and 1 11 minority floor leaders, or companion bills and joint 1 12 resolutions sponsored by the majority floor leaders of 1 13 both houses, shall be introduced in the senate after 1 14 4:30 p.m. on Friday of thefourthfifth week of the 1 15 first regular session of a general assembly unless a 1 16 formal request for drafting the bill has been filed 1 17 with the legislative services agency before that time. 1 18 After adjournment of the first regular session, bills 1 19 may be prefiled at any time before the convening of the 1 20 second regular session. No bill shall be introduced 1 21 after 4:30 p.m. on Friday of the second week of the 1 22 second regular session of a general assembly unless a 1 23 formal request for drafting the bill has been filed 1 24 with the legislative services agency before that time. 1 25 However, standing committees may introduce bills and 1 26 joint resolutions at any time. A bill which relates 1 27 to departmental rules sponsored by the administrative 1 28 rules review committee and approved by a majority 2 1 of the members of the committee in each house may 2 2 be introduced at any time and must be referred to a 2 3 standing committee which must take action on the bill 2 4 within three weeks.
