MEDICAID
MANAGED
CARE
CONTRACTS

APPROVED
1
PROVIDERS.
The
department
of
human
services
shall
adopt
rules
2
pursuant
to
chapter
17A
to
require
that
any
Medicaid
managed
3
care
contract
or
Medicaid
prepaid
services
contract
include
as
4
approved
providers
for
the
provision
of
health
care
services
5
including
primary
care,
physicians
licensed
pursuant
to
chapter
6
148,
physician
assistants
licensed
pursuant
to
chapter
148C,
7
and
advanced
registered
nurse
practitioners
licensed
pursuant
8
to
chapter
152.
This
section
shall
not
be
construed
to
expand
9
the
scope
of
practice
of
physicians,
physician
assistants,
or
10
advanced
registered
nurse
practitioners
acting
as
approved
11
providers
under
this
section.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
14
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
directs
the
department
of
human
services
to
adopt
16
rules
under
Code
chapter
17A
to
require
that
any
Medicaid
17
managed
care
contract
or
prepaid
services
contract
include
as
18
approved
providers
for
the
provision
of
health
care
services
19
including
primary
care,
licensed
physicians,
physician
20
assistants,
and
advanced
registered
nurse
practitioners.
The

bill
is
not
to
be
construed
to
expand
the
scope
of
practice
of

physicians,
physician
assistants,
or
advanced
registered
nurse

practitioners
acting
as
approved
providers
under
the
bill.
