amended
to
read
as
follows:

a.
A
person
under
the
custody,
control,
or
supervision
of

the
department
of
corrections
,
a
judicial
district
department

of
correctional
services,
a
county
jail,
or
a
municipal
holding
5
facility,
commits
interference
with
official
acts
when
the
6
person
knowingly
resists,
obstructs,
or
interferes
with
a
7
correctional
officer,
jailer,
agent,
employee,
or
contractor,
8
whether
paid
or
volunteer,
in
the
performance
of
the
person’s
9
official
duties.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
interference
with
official
acts.

Under
the
bill,
a
person
under
the
custody,
control,
or
15
supervision
of
a
judicial
district
department
of
correctional
16
services,
county
jail,
or
municipal
holding
facility
who
17
knowingly
resists,
obstructs,
or
interferes
with
a
jailer,
18
agent,
employee,
or
contractor
in
the
performance
of
the
19
official
duties
of
the
jailer,
agent,
employee,
or
contractor
20
commits
interference
with
official
acts.
21
The
criminal
offense
for
the
commission
of
interference
22
with
official
acts
pursuant
to
the
bill
ranges
from
a
serious
23
misdemeanor
through
a
class
“C”
felony
depending
upon
the
facts
24
of
the
offense
under
Code
section
719.1(2).
25
A
person
who
assaults
a
jailer
or
an
employee
of
a
judicial
26
district
department
of
correctional
services
may
also
be
27
punished
pursuant
to
the
existing
provisions
of
Code
section
28
708.3A.
