INTENT

cemetery
associations,
and

nonprofit

governmental
entities,
may
use
inmate
labor
during
the
18
fiscal
year
beginning
July
1,
2024,
to
restore
or
preserve
19
rural
cemeteries
and
historical
landmarks.
The
department,
in
20
cooperation
with
the
counties,
may
also
use
inmate
labor
to
21
clean
up
roads,
major
water
sources,
and
other
water
sources
22
around
the
state.

2.
By
January
15,
2025,
the
department
shall
provide
an
24
annual
status
report
regarding
private-sector
employment
to
25
the
general
assembly.
The
report
shall
include
the
number
26
of
offenders
employed
in
the
private
sector,
the
combined
27
number
of
hours
worked
by
the
offenders,
the
total
amount
of
28
allowances,
and
the
distribution
of
allowances
pursuant
to

section
904.702,
including
any
moneys
deposited
in
the
