AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 187
AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 187, AS AMENDED, by
replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
following:
"Section 5. The Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Act is
amended by adding Section 8 as follows:
(410 ILCS 405/8 new)
Sec. 8. Public outreach and training. Subject to
appropriation, the Department shall develop and implement a
coordinated public outreach and training strategy in the State
by December 31, 2019. At a minimum, the strategy shall include:
(1) The development of informational materials. After
consultation with the ADA Advisory Committee, the
Department on Aging, the Department of Healthcare and
Family Services, and the Department of Human Services, the
Department shall develop the written informational

materials relating to the available services for
individuals, regardless of age, with Alzheimer's disease
and related dementia disorders. At a minimum, the
informational materials shall include:
(A) how to identify Alzheimer's disease and
related dementia disorders;
(B) how and where to access services for
individuals under programs administered by State
agencies;
(C) how and where to obtain support for caregivers
of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease or
related dementia disorders;
(D) how and where to obtain training resources for
caregivers;
(E) how to communicate with and support
individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and
related dementia disorders;
(F) how and where to obtain informational
materials and training resources for health care
providers and service agencies; and
(G) a website link to the stand-alone webpage
developed under paragraph (2) of this Section. The
written materials shall be shared with relevant health
care providers and service agencies, including, but
not limited to, hospitals, doctors, Federally
Qualified Health Centers, area agencies on aging, case

coordination units, and offices of the Department of
Human Services.
(2) The creation of a stand-alone web page focused on
Alzheimer's disease and related dementia disorders. This
web page may be hosted on the Departments website, and
shall include, at minimum:
(A) how and where to access services for
individuals under programs administered by State
agencies, including links and contact information for
the appropriate State agencies;
(B) the informational materials developed under
paragraph (1) of this Section; and
(C) an identifiable and simple URL that can be
referenced on written materials.
The Department, the Department on Aging, the Department of
Healthcare and Family Services, and the Department of Human
Services shall post informational materials relating to the
available services for individuals, regardless of age, with
Alzheimer's disease and related dementia disorders, or links to
this information, on the websites of each respective agency.".
