1 | AN ACT concerning aging.
| |||||||||||||||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| |||||||||||||||||||
4 | Section 5. The Senior Citizens on State Boards and | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | Commissions Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:

7 | Sec. 1.
It is hereby found and and determined by the | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | General Assembly that
state boards and commissions exist for | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | the singular purpose of protecting
the public health and | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | welfare; that citizens over 60 years of age represent
a | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | significant percentage of the population and have the time and | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | experience
to devote to the important issues which have a | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | profound effect on the daily
lives of older Illinoisans.

14 | It is also hereby found that senior citizens shall hold | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | their positions
on boards and commissions by matter of right, | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | not discretion. These
positions shall be held by consumer | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | representatives over the age of 60 who
shall serve as | |||||||||||||||||||
18 | spokespersons for the interests of the State's older | |||||||||||||||||||
19 | population.
