AN ACT concerning government.
| ||||
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||
represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||
Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by | ||||
adding Section 7 as follows:

(5 ILCS 490/7 new) | ||||
Sec. 7. Indigenous Peoples Day. The last Monday in | ||||
September of each year is designated as Indigenous Peoples Day | ||||
to be observed throughout the State as a day to recognize the | ||||
contributions of indigenous peoples with suitable ceremony and | ||||
fellowship designed to promote greater understanding and | ||||
kinship between indigenous peoples and non-indigenous peoples | ||||
of the State of Illinois.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||
becoming law.
