| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 168
| ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 168 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | changing Section 3-664 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (625 ILCS 5/3-664)
| ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 3-664. Gold Star license plates. Upon proper | ||||||
| 8 | application, the Secretary of State shall
issue registration | ||||||
| 9 | plates designated as Gold Star license plates to any Illinois | ||||||
| 10 | resident who is the
surviving widow, widower, or parent of a | ||||||
| 11 | person who served in the Armed Forces of the United States and
| ||||||
| 12 | lost his or her life while in service whether in peacetime or | ||||||
| 13 | war. The
surviving widow or widower and each surviving parent, | ||||||
| 14 | or in the absence of a surviving parent, only one surviving | ||||||
| 15 | sibling shall be issued one set of registration plates. In the | ||||||
| 16 | event that there is no surviving widow, widower, parent, or | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | sibling, the Secretary may issue one set of Gold Star license | ||||||
| 2 | plates to each surviving child or stepchild. Registration | ||||||
| 3 | plates issued under this
Section shall be for first division | ||||||
| 4 | vehicles and second division vehicles
of 8,000 pounds or less. | ||||||
| 5 | The Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates | ||||||
| 6 | to be issued as vanity or personalized plates in accordance | ||||||
| 7 | with Section 3-405.1 of this Code. An applicant shall be | ||||||
| 8 | charged only the appropriate registration fee.
