| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 362
| ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 362 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
| 4 | "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the | ||||||
| 5 | Representatives' Terms of Office Referendum Act.
| ||||||
| 6 | Section 5. Advisory question. The following advisory
| ||||||
| 7 | question shall be submitted to
the
voters of the entire State | ||||||
| 8 | at the next general election following the effective date of | ||||||
| 9 | this Act: | ||||||
| 10 | During each 10-year period following redistricting, | ||||||
| 11 | should members of the Illinois House of Representatives be | ||||||
| 12 | elected for terms of 4 years, then 2 years, and then 4 | ||||||
| 13 | years? | ||||||
| 14 | The question shall be placed on a single separate ballot. | ||||||
| 15 | The votes shall be recorded as "Yes" or "No".

| 1 | Section 10. Certification. The State Board of Elections | ||||||
| 2 | shall immediately
certify
the question to be submitted to the | ||||||
| 3 | voters of the entire State under Section
5 to the respective | ||||||
| 4 | county
clerks and to the board of election commissioners, if | ||||||
| 5 | any, in
their respective counties.

| 6 | Section 15. Conflicts. If any provision of this Act | ||||||
| 7 | conflicts with any other law, this Act controls.
| ||||||
| 8 | Section 90. Repeal. This Act is repealed on January 1, | ||||||
| 9 | 2013.
| ||||||
| 10 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 11 | becoming law.".
