Bill Title: Amends the Transitional Bilingual Education Article of the School Code. Provides that with regard to the implementation of the recommendations of the Advisory Council on Bilingual Education, a school district may require teachers of English Language Learner students, who are participating in English Language Learner courses not taught by English Language Learner-certified teachers, to participate in a one-day training session regarding the challenges for English Language Learner students. Provides that the training may be in place of any State Board of Education-related rule regarding required contact hours for such teachers. Effective immediately.

2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
514C-13.5 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/14C-13.5 new)
7 Sec. 14C-13.5. Required training; English Language Learner
8courses. With regard to the implementation of the
9recommendations of the Advisory Council on Bilingual
10Education, a school district may require teachers of English
