Bill Title: Amends the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act, the Medical Practice Act of 1987, the Nurse Practice Act, the Pharmacy Practice Act, and the Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987. Provides that, during State fiscal years 2025 and 2026, the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation shall allow individuals in rural counties a one-time waiver of fees imposed under specific provisions in each Act. Effective immediately.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Clinical Social Work and Social Work | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | Practice Act is amended by changing Section 13.2 as follows:

7 | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2028) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | Sec. 13.2. Fee waivers. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | (a) As used in this Section, "rural county" means a county | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | not part of a metropolitan statistical area, as defined by the | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | United States Census Bureau, or a county that is part of a | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | metropolitan statistical area but has a population fewer than | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | 60,000. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | (b) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | during State fiscal years 2025 and 2026 2022, 2023, and 2024 , | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | the Department shall allow individuals in rural counties a | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17 | one-time waiver of fees imposed under subsection (a) of | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18 | Section 11 or Section 7, 9, 9A, 12.5, or 13 of this Act. No | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

21 | Section 10. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
22 | changing Section 9.1 as follows:

17 | Section 50-27 as follows:

21 | (a) As used in this Section, "rural county" means a county | ||||||

23 | United States Census Bureau, or a county that is part of a |

12 | changing Section 27.1 as follows:

16 | (a) As used in this Section, "rural county" means a county | ||||||

18 | United States Census Bureau, or a county that is part of a | ||||||
19 | metropolitan statistical area but has a population fewer than | ||||||
20 | 60,000. | ||||||
21 | (b) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, | ||||||
22 | during State fiscal years 2025 and 2026 2022, 2023, and 2024 , | ||||||

4 | Section 25. The Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987 | ||||||
5 | is amended by changing Section 14.2 as follows:

8 | Sec. 14.2. Fee waivers. | ||||||
9 | (a) As used in this Section, "rural county" means a county | ||||||

11 | United States Census Bureau, or a county that is part of a | ||||||
12 | metropolitan statistical area but has a population fewer than | ||||||
13 | 60,000. | ||||||
14 | (b) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, | ||||||
15 | during State fiscal years 2025 and 2026 2022, 2023, and 2024 , | ||||||
