10 ILCS 5/9-25.3 new

    Amends the Election Code. Provides that it is unlawful for any public utility to make a campaign contribution to any candidate for State office or political committee organized to support any candidate for State office. Provides that it is unlawful for any water or sewer utility to make a campaign contribution to any candidate for municipal or State office or a political committee organized to support any candidate for municipal or State office. 1    AN ACT concerning elections.
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4    Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section
59-25.3 as follows:
6    (10 ILCS 5/9-25.3 new)
7    Sec. 9-25.3. Contributions from utilities prohibited.    
8    (a) It is unlawful for any public utility to make a
9campaign contribution to any candidate for State office or
10political committee organized to support any candidate for
11State office. As used in this Section, "public utility" has
12the meaning given to that term in Section 3-105 of the Public
13Utilities Act.
14    (b) It is unlawful for any water or sewer utility to make a
15campaign contribution to any candidate for municipal or State
16office or a political committee organized to support any
17candidate for municipal or State office. As used in this
18Section, "water or sewer utility" has the meaning given to
19that term in Section 9-210.5 of the Public Utilities Act.
