1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section
52-3002.5 as follows:
6 (55 ILCS 5/2-3002.5)
7 Sec. 2-3002.5. Beginning with members elected at the the
8general election in 2002, counties having a population between
9800,000 and 3,000,000 according to 2000 decennial census shall
10have no more than 18 members on their county board. If the
11chairman of the county board is elected at-large by the voters
12of the county as provided in Section 2-3007, the chairman shall
13not be counted as a member of the county board for the purpose
14of the limitations on the size of the county board provided in
15this Section. Neither a member nor the chairman of that county
16board shall serve simultaneously as commissioner or president
17of the board of commissioners of the forest preserve district.
18No person shall seek election to both the county board and the
19forest preserve commission at the same election.
