Bill Title: Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the Department of Corrections shall make information about the availability of referral services to any other State or local agencies known to a parolee or releasee prior to his or her release from the correctional facility where the parolee or releasee has been residing. Effective immediately.

1 | AN ACT concerning criminal law.
| |||||||||||||||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| |||||||||||||||||||
4 | Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | changing Section 3-14-3 as follows:
| |||||||||||||||||||
6 | (730 ILCS 5/3-14-3) (from Ch. 38, par. 1003-14-3)
| |||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 3-14-3. Parole Services. To assist parolees or | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | releasees, the
Department shall provide employment counseling | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | and job placement services,
and may in addition to other | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | services provide the following:
| |||||||||||||||||||
11 | (1) assistance in residential placement;
| |||||||||||||||||||
12 | (2) family and individual counseling and treatment | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | placement;
| |||||||||||||||||||
14 | (3) financial counseling;
| |||||||||||||||||||
15 | (4) vocational and educational counseling and placement; | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | and
| |||||||||||||||||||
17 | (5) referral services to any other State or local agencies.

18 | The Department shall make information about the availability of | |||||||||||||||||||
19 | these services known to a parolee or releasee prior to his or | |||||||||||||||||||
20 | her release from the correctional facility where the parolee or | |||||||||||||||||||
21 | releasee has been residing. The Department may purchase | |||||||||||||||||||
22 | necessary services for a parolee or releasee if
they are | |||||||||||||||||||
23 | otherwise unavailable and the parolee or releasee is unable to |

for them. It may assess all or part of the costs of such | ||||||
2 | services to a
parolee or releasee in accordance with his | ||||||
3 | ability to pay for them.
