1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Adoption Act is amended by changing Section
54 as follows:
6 (750 ILCS 50/4) (from Ch. 40, par. 1505)
7 Sec. 4. Jurisdiction and venue. An adoption proceeding may
8be commenced in the the circuit court of the county in which
9petitioners reside, or the county in which the person to be
10adopted resides, or was born, or the county in which the
11parents of such person reside, provided, however, if an agency
12has acquired the custody and control of a child and such agency
13is authorized to consent to the adoption of such child, the
14proceeding may be commenced in any county, and provided further
15that if a guardian of the person of such child has been
16appointed by a court of competent jurisdiction, the proceeding
17may be commenced in any county.
