SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
430 ILCS 65/7 from Ch. 38, par. 83-7

Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that if a renewal application for a Firearm Owner's Identification Card is pending at the time a card expires, the card shall be valid for the person to whom it is issued until 7 business days after the date the person's new Firearm Owner's Identification Card is issued.

1 AN ACT concerning safety.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Firearm Owners Identification Card Act is
5amended by changing Section 7 as follows:
6 (430 ILCS 65/7) (from Ch. 38, par. 83-7)
7 Sec. 7. Except as provided in Section 8 of this Act, a
8Firearm Owner's Identification Card issued under the
9provisions of this Act shall be valid for the person to whom it
10is issued for a period of 10 years from the date of issuance,
11except if a renewal application is pending at that time, the
12Firearm Owner's Identification Card shall be valid for the
13person to whom it is issued until 7 business days after the
14date the person's new Firearm Owner's Identification Card is
15issued.
