Bill Title: Amends the School Boards Article of the School Code. Removes a provision requiring a school nurse whose duties require the educational evaluation of pupils to be certificated under this Code. Changes certification references to licensure references.

1 | AN ACT concerning education.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | 10-22.23 as follows:
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
6 | (105 ILCS 5/10-22.23) (from Ch. 122, par. 10-22.23)
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 10-22.23. School Nurse. To employ a registered | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | professional
nurse and define the duties of the school nurse | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | within the guidelines of
rules and regulations promulgated by | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | the State Board of Education. Any
school nurse first employed | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | on or after July 1, 1976, whose duties
require teaching or the | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | exercise of instructional judgment or educational
evaluation | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | of pupils , must be licensed under Article 21B certificated | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | under Section 21-25 of this Code Act .
School districts may | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | employ non-certificated registered professional nurses who are | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | not licensed under Article 21B of this Code
to perform | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
17 | professional nursing services.
