Amends the Downstate Police and Firefighter Articles of the Illinois Pension Code. 1 AN ACT in relation to public employee benefits.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding
5Sections 3-148.5 and 4-139.5 as follows:
6 (40 ILCS 5/3-148.5 new)
7 Sec. 3-148.5. Right of employer to intervene. If not
8otherwise a party, the municipality is entitled to appear, as a
9matter of right, in any proceeding involving a participant or a
10beneficiary under this Article that might result in a final
11administrative decision by the board.

13 Sec. 4-139.5. Right of employer to intervene. If not
14otherwise a party, the municipality is entitled to appear, as a
15matter of right, in any proceeding involving a participant or a

18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
19becoming law.
