Bill Title: Amends the Home Medical Equipment and Services Provider License Act and the Pharmacy Practice Act. Requires a home medical equipment and services provider that provides or a pharmacist that dispenses pressurized oxygen or any oxygen delivery system to a patient to inform the municipal fire department or fire protection district that serves the patient of the patient's oxygen use in his or her home in case of a fire.

AN ACT concerning regulation.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Home Medical Equipment and Services Provider
License Act is amended by adding Section 17 as follows:
(225 ILCS 51/17 new)
Sec. 17. Providing oxygen. Upon providing pressurized
oxygen or any oxygen delivery system to a patient, the home
medical equipment and services provider shall contact the
municipal fire department or fire protection district that
serves the patient to inform it of the patient's oxygen use in
his or her home in case of a fire.
Section 10. The Pharmacy Practice Act is amended by adding
Section 19.7 as follows:

Sec. 19.7. Dispensing oxygen. Upon dispensing pressurized
oxygen or any oxygen delivery system to a patient, the
pharmacist shall contact the municipal fire department or fire
protection district that serves the patient to inform it of the
patient's oxygen use in his or her home in case of a fire.
