1    AN ACT concerning local government.
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4    Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
5adding Section 11-6-12 as follows:
6    (65 ILCS 5/11-6-12 new)
7    Sec. 11-6-12. Reimbursement for nonemergency calls.    
8    (a) For the purposes of this Section, "nonemergency calls
9for services" are calls for ambulance or emergency services
10that are not considered medical emergencies, do not concern a
11threat to life, health, or property and do not otherwise
12correspond to any billing code for emergency response
13services.
14    (b) A municipality may fix, charge, and collect reasonable
15fees from residents for any response, time, or services to
16residents for nonemergency calls for services rendered by a
17municipal fire department, firefighter, emergency response
18unit, or public safety employee of a municipal department.
19    Section 10. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by
20adding Section 11n as follows:
