Bill Title: Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act and the Hospital Licensing Act. Requires a hospital organized or licensed under those Acts to provide a patient who is treated for opioid overdose at the hospital with one dose of or one prescription for an opioid antagonist upon discharge from the hospital, free of charge.

1 | AN ACT concerning regulation.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is | ||||||
5 | amended by adding Section 8d as follows:

6 | (110 ILCS 330/8d new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 8d. Opioid antagonist dose. The University of | ||||||
8 | Illinois Hospital shall provide a patient who is treated for | ||||||
9 | opioid overdose at the University of Illinois Hospital with | ||||||
10 | one dose of or one prescription for an opioid antagonist upon | ||||||
11 | discharge from the University of Illinois Hospital, free of | ||||||
12 | charge.

13 | Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by | ||||||
14 | adding Section 6.14h as follows:

16 | Sec. 6.14h. Opioid antagonist dose. A hospital licensed | ||||||
17 | under this Act shall provide a patient who is treated for | ||||||
18 | opioid overdose at the hospital with one dose of or one | ||||||
19 | prescription for an opioid antagonist upon discharge from the | ||||||
20 | hospital, free of charge.
