1 AN ACT concerning business.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2TTT new as follows:
6 (815 ILCS 505/2TTT new)
7 Sec. 2TTT new. Limitation on credit card transactions fees.
8 (a) In this Section:
9 "Credit card" has the meaning ascribed to it in Section 2NN
10of this Act.
11 "Merchant" has the meaning ascribed to it in Section 2JJ of
12this Act.
13 (b) It is an unlawful practice for a merchant to impose a
14surcharge, transaction charge, or other additional fee upon a
15transaction involving the use of a credit card when the amount
16of the transaction before the imposition of taxes and any other
17fee is less than $5.
