Bill Title: Amends the General Assembly Operations Act. Provides that the wearing of masks shall not be required for any member of the House of Representatives, or the staff thereof, while present on the floor of the House of Representatives. Provides that any such rule or provision of law mandating the wearing of masks on the floor of the House of Representatives is void. Effective immediately.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
25 ILCS 10/25 new

Amends the General Assembly Operations Act. Provides that the wearing of masks shall not be required for any member of the House of Representatives, or the staff thereof, while present on the floor of the House of Representatives. Provides that any such rule or provision of law mandating the wearing of masks on the floor of the House of Representatives is void. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended
5by adding Section 25 as follows:
6 (25 ILCS 10/25 new)
7 Sec. 25. House chamber mask mandate prohibition.
8Notwithstanding any rule or provision of law to the contrary,
9on and after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the
10102nd General Assembly, the wearing of masks shall not be
11required for any member of the House of Representatives, or
12the staff thereof, while present on the floor of the House of
13Representatives. Any such rule or provision of law mandating
14the wearing of masks on the floor of the House of
15Representatives as of the effective date of this amendatory
16Act of the 102nd General Assembly is void.
17 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18becoming law.
