1 | AN ACT concerning State government.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | Coal Resources Development Law of 1997 is amended by changing | |||||||||||||||||||
6 | Section 6-2 as follows:

9 | Sec. 6-2. Findings and intent. The The General Assembly | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | finds and declares that it is desirable to obtain the | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | environmental quality, public health, and fuel diversity | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | benefits of developing new renewable energy resources and | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | clean coal technologies for use in Illinois and to lower the | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | cost of renewable energy resources and clean coal resources | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | provided to utility consumers. The General Assembly finds and | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | declares that the benefits of electricity from renewable | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | energy resources and clean coal technologies accrue to the | |||||||||||||||||||
18 | public at large, thus consumers and electric utilities and | |||||||||||||||||||
19 | alternative retail electric suppliers share an interest in | |||||||||||||||||||
20 | developing and using a significant level of these | |||||||||||||||||||
21 | environmentally preferable resources in the State's | |||||||||||||||||||
22 | electricity supply portfolio. The General Assembly finds and | |||||||||||||||||||
23 | declares that encouraging energy efficiency will improve the |
