Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Increases the size of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board from 20 members to 26 members by adding the Cook County Medical Examiner, 2 Illinois county board chairs, 2 Illinois county coroners from counties other than Cook County, and one active member of a statewide association representing coroners.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

4 | Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | changing Section 3 as follows:

7 | Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure - | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | vacancies. The Board
shall be composed of 26 20 members | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | selected as follows: The Attorney
General of

10 | Illinois, the Director of State Police, the Director of

11 | Corrections, the Superintendent of the
Chicago Police | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | Department, the Sheriff of Cook County, the Cook County Medical | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | Examiner, the Director of the
Illinois Police Training | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | Institute, the Special Agent in Charge of the
Springfield, | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, and the following

17 | be appointed by the Governor: 2 mayors or village presidents of | |||||||||||||||||||
18 | Illinois
municipalities, 2 Illinois county board chairs, 2 | |||||||||||||||||||
19 | Illinois county sheriffs from counties other than Cook
County, | |||||||||||||||||||
20 | 2 Illinois county coroners from counties other than Cook | |||||||||||||||||||
21 | County, 2 managers of Illinois municipalities, 2 chiefs of | |||||||||||||||||||
22 | municipal police
departments in Illinois having no | |||||||||||||||||||
23 | Superintendent of the Police Department on
the Board, 2 |

1 | citizens of Illinois who shall be members of
an organized | ||||||
2 | enforcement officers' association, one active member of a | ||||||
3 | statewide association representing sheriffs, one active member | ||||||
4 | of a statewide association representing coroners, and one | ||||||
5 | active member of a statewide association representing | ||||||
6 | municipal police chiefs. The appointments of the Governor
shall | ||||||
7 | be made on the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of the | ||||||
8 | appointments
to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years, and | ||||||
9 | 3 for 3 years. Their
successors shall be appointed in like | ||||||
10 | manner for terms to expire the first
Monday of August each 3 | ||||||
11 | years thereafter. All members shall serve until their
| ||||||
12 | respective successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies | ||||||
13 | shall be filled by
the Governor for the unexpired terms.
