1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Rescue Squad Districts Act is amended by
5changing Section 11 as follows:
6 (70 ILCS 2005/11) (from Ch. 85, par. 6861)
7 Sec. 11. Property tax; fees.
8 (a) A rescue squad district organized under this Act may
9levy and collect a general tax on the property situated in the
10district, but the aggregate amount of taxes levied for any one
11year shall not exceed the rate of .20% of value, as equalized
12or assessed by the Department of Revenue. The board of trustees
13shall determine and certify the amount to be levied and shall
14return the same to the county clerk. The limitation upon the
15tax rate may be increased or decreased under the referendum
16provisions of the General Revenue Law of Illinois.
17 In case the district is located in more than one county,
18the board of trustees shall determine and certify the amount to
19be levied upon the taxable property lying in each county and
20return the same to the respective county clerks of the counties
21in which the amount is to be levied. In order to determine the
22amount to be levied upon the taxable property of that part of
23the district lying in each county, the board shall ascertain

1from the county clerk of the respective counties in which the
2district lies the last ascertained equalized value of the
3taxable property of the district lying in their respective
4counties, then shall ascertain the rate per cent required and
5shall, accordingly, apportion the whole amount to be raised
6between the several parts of the district so lying in the
7different counties. The tax provided for in this Section shall
8be levied at the same time and in the same manner as nearly as
9practicable as taxes are now levied for municipal purposes
10under the laws of this State.
11 All general taxes under this Act, when collected, shall be
12paid over to the treasurer of the board of trustees, who is
13authorized to receive and receipt for the same.
14 (b) A rescue squad district organized under this Act may
15fix, charge, and collect fees for rescue squad services and
16ambulance services within or outside of the rescue squad
17district not exceeding the reasonable cost of the service.

19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
