Amends the Animal Welfare Act. Prohibits the sale, trade, or exchange of cats or dogs at flea markets, swap meets, roadside sales, or similar events even if the seller is licensed under the Act. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Animal Welfare Act is amended by adding
5Section 18.5 as follows:
6 (225 ILCS 605/18.5 new)
7 Sec. 18.5. Prohibition of the sale, trade, or exchange of
8cats or dogs at flea markets, swap meets, roadside sales, or
9similar events. No person, whether licensed under this Act or
10not, shall sell, trade, or exchange cats or dogs at flea
11markets, swap meets, roadside sales, or similar events.
12 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13becoming law.
