1 | HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Greywater is gently used water from one's | ||||||
3 | bathroom, sinks, showers, tubs, and washing machines; it may | ||||||
4 | contain traces of dirt, food, grease, hair, and certain | ||||||
5 | household cleaning products; it is not water that has come into | ||||||
6 | contact with feces; it may look "dirty", but it is a safe, even | ||||||
7 | beneficial source of irrigation water; and

8 | WHEREAS, If greywater is released into rivers, lakes, or | ||||||
9 | estuaries, it becomes a pollutant, but to plants, it is a | ||||||
10 | valuable fertilizer; and

11 | WHEREAS, Reusing greywater saves water and money on one's | ||||||
12 | water bill; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Reusing greywater keeps it out of the sewer or | ||||||
14 | septic system, thereby reducing the chance that it will pollute | ||||||
15 | local bodies of water; and

16 | WHEREAS, Reusing greywater is a way to increase the | ||||||
17 | productivity of sustainable backyard ecosystems that produce | ||||||
18 | food, clean water, and shelter wildlife; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
20 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE |
