| 1 | HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Section 14.1 of the Toll Highway Act provides that | ||||||
| 3 | prior to the issuance of bonds for or the commencement of | ||||||
| 4 | construction of any new toll highway, that particular toll | ||||||
| 5 | highway shall be authorized by joint resolution of the General | ||||||
| 6 | Assembly; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Additional highway capacity along Interstate 80 | ||||||
| 8 | in Cook and Will Counties, including tolls on the additional | ||||||
| 9 | capacity, would improve public safety and promote greater | ||||||
| 10 | economic development; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The project is contingent on compliance with | ||||||
| 12 | applicable environmental regulations and, if federal funds or | ||||||
| 13 | requirements are involved, approval by the Federal Highway | ||||||
| 14 | Administration; therefore, be it

| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 16 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE | ||||||
| 17 | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Illinois State Toll Highway | ||||||
| 18 | Authority be authorized to commence a procurement process for | ||||||
| 19 | projects to provide additional capacity along Interstate 80 | ||||||
| 20 | between Interstate 55 and the Illinois-Indiana border in Cook | ||||||
| 21 | and Will Counties and toll the additional capacity; and be it | ||||||
| 22 | further

| 1 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority | ||||||
| 2 | shall complete the additional capacity project along | ||||||
| 3 | Interstate 80 in a manner that supports diversity involvement | ||||||
| 4 | in the project work and economic development in the region; and | ||||||
| 5 | be it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | delivered to each of the Directors of the Illinois State Toll | ||||||
| 8 | Highway Authority and to the Secretary of the Illinois | ||||||
| 9 | Department of Transportation.
