2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are | ||||||
3 | saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Cellini, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on June 9, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Thomas Cellini was born on May 30, 1939 in Chicago | ||||||
6 | Heights; his parents were Paul and Maria Cellini; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, At the age of 16, Thomas Cellini started showing | ||||||
8 | interest in auto repair, which led him to start a business in | ||||||
9 | 1956; the business was made into a corporation in 1960; he was | ||||||
10 | also the proprietor for Broadway Auto in South Chicago Heights | ||||||
11 | from 1970 to 2013 and served his community for many years; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, In 1986, Thomas Cellini started showing signs of | ||||||
13 | Huntington's disease, a degenerative brain disorder that | ||||||
14 | causes spontaneous body movements and eventually diminishes | ||||||
15 | one's ability to walk, talk, think, and reason; in 2005, he and | ||||||
16 | his wife started The Thomas Cellini Huntington's Foundation to | ||||||
17 | help those with Huntington's disease and their families; and

18 | WHEREAS, Thomas Cellini was the loving husband of Barbara | ||||||
19 | Embry, whom he married on June 23, 1959; the father of 5 | ||||||
20 | children; the grandfather of 13; the great-grandfather of 2; | ||||||
21 | and the brother of Paul Cellini, late baby Betty Jean, and baby |

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
3 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE | ||||||
4 | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of East | ||||||
5 | End Avenue between the intersections of 26th Street and East | ||||||
6 | End Avenue and Sauk Trail and East End Avenue in South Chicago | ||||||
7 | Heights as Honorary Thomas Cellini Way; and be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
9 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | ||||||
10 | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs | ||||||
11 | giving notice of the name of Honorary Thomas Cellini Way; and | ||||||
12 | be it further

13 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
14 | delivered to the family of Thomas Cellini and the Secretary of | ||||||
15 | the Illinois Department of Transportation.
