| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The Mennonite Sanitarium Training School was | ||||||
| 3 | founded in Bloomington on January 23, 1919; the first
| ||||||
| 4 | commencement took place in 1922 with 15 graduates; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, In 1982,
the Mennonite College of Nursing was | ||||||
| 6 | established; in 1985, the last graduation ceremony for diploma | ||||||
| 7 | students
was held, and the first degrees from the Mennonite | ||||||
| 8 | College of Nursing (MCN) were awarded; in 1995, the Master of
| ||||||
| 9 | Science in Nursing Program was approved; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The Mennonite College of Nursing became Illinois | ||||||
| 11 | State University's sixth academic college on July 1, 1999; | ||||||
| 12 | during the past 16 years, the
college has increased its | ||||||
| 13 | undergraduate enrollment, added two sequences to the master's | ||||||
| 14 | program, created a
doctoral program that includes a Doctor of | ||||||
| 15 | Philosophy in Nursing and an online Doctor of Nursing Practice, | ||||||
| 16 | and created an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing | ||||||
| 17 | option; a state-of-art nursing simulation lab was opened in | ||||||
| 18 | 2011; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The Illinois State University Mennonite
College | ||||||
| 20 | of Nursing has maintained important traditions while | ||||||
| 21 | transforming into an innovative, future-oriented
program; | ||||||
| 22 | therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 3 | we declare January 23, 2019 as ISU Mennonite College of Nursing | ||||||
| 4 | Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 6 | presented to the ISU Mennonite College of Nursing as a symbol | ||||||
| 7 | of our respect and esteem.
