HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former
4State Representative Sam W. Wolf of Granite City, who passed
5away on November 4, 2016; and
6 WHEREAS, Representative Wolf born in Venice to Earl and
7Elizabeth (Delaney) Wolf on January 4, 1919; he joined the
8United States Army in January of 1941 and was discharged as a
9Chief Warrant Officer in December of 1945, serving in both the
10Asiatic Pacific Theater and the European Theater; he married
11Mae Frank on November 9, 1946; and
12 WHEREAS, Representative Wolf served as the State
13Representative for the 56th District from 1974 to 1992; he was
14instrumental in having Belleville Area College change its name
15to South Western Illinois College (SWIC); the Granite City
16Campus was named the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus in his honor;
17he was elected a SWIC Trustee in 1995; and
18 WHEREAS, Representative Wolf owned and operated a real
19estate and insurance business in Granite City for many years;
20he was past President of the Granite City Real Estate Board;

1 WHEREAS, Representative Wolf was elected as a delegate to
2the Democratic Mid Term National Conference in December of
31974, and elected as a Democratic National Committeeman from
4Illinois in June of 1975; he was Secretary-Treasurer of the
5Madison County Democratic Central Committee since 1970; and
6 WHEREAS, Representative Wolf was past President of the
7Granite City Kiwanis Club; he was also a member and on the
8Board of Directors of the Tri City Chamber of Commerce; and
9 WHEREAS, Representative Wolf was preceded in death by his
10parents; his wife, Mae; his son, Larry Wolf; his brother, Carl
11Wolf; and his daughter-in-law, Charlotte Diane (Corder) Wolf;
12and
13 WHEREAS, Representative Wolf is survived by his son, Dave
14(Candy) Wolf; his sister, Shirley Tretter; his
15daughter-in-law, Susan Wolf; his grandchildren, Renee Wolf,
16Damon (Rose) Wolf, Erin Wolf, Dave (Sheila) Wolf, and Tanya
17Kennedy; his great-grandchildren, Jake Wolf, J.D. Wolf,
18Mackenzie Kennedy, and Gavin Kennedy; and his extended family
19and many dear friends; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22mourn the passing of former State Representative Sam W. Wolf,

1and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
2all who knew and loved him; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Representative Wolf as an expression
