2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former | ||||||
4 | State Representative Sam W. Wolf of Granite City, who passed | ||||||
5 | away on November 4, 2016; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Representative Wolf born in Venice to Earl and | ||||||
7 | Elizabeth (Delaney) Wolf on January 4, 1919; he joined the | ||||||
8 | United States Army in January of 1941 and was discharged as a | ||||||
9 | Chief Warrant Officer in December of 1945, serving in both the | ||||||
10 | Asiatic Pacific Theater and the European Theater; he married | ||||||
11 | Mae Frank on November 9, 1946; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Representative Wolf served as the State | ||||||
13 | Representative for the 56th District from 1974 to 1992; he was | ||||||
14 | instrumental in having Belleville Area College change its name | ||||||
15 | to South Western Illinois College (SWIC); the Granite City | ||||||
16 | Campus was named the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus in his honor; | ||||||
17 | he was elected a SWIC Trustee in 1995; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Representative Wolf owned and operated a real | ||||||
19 | estate and insurance business in Granite City for many years; | ||||||
20 | he was past President of the Granite City Real Estate Board; | ||||||
21 | and

1 | WHEREAS, Representative Wolf was elected as a delegate to | ||||||
2 | the Democratic Mid Term National Conference in December of | ||||||
3 | 1974, and elected as a Democratic National Committeeman from | ||||||
4 | Illinois in June of 1975; he was Secretary-Treasurer of the | ||||||
5 | Madison County Democratic Central Committee since 1970; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Representative Wolf was past President of the | ||||||
7 | Granite City Kiwanis Club; he was also a member and on the | ||||||
8 | Board of Directors of the Tri City Chamber of Commerce; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Representative Wolf was preceded in death by his | ||||||
10 | parents; his wife, Mae; his son, Larry Wolf; his brother, Carl | ||||||
11 | Wolf; and his daughter-in-law, Charlotte Diane (Corder) Wolf; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Representative Wolf is survived by his son, Dave | ||||||
14 | (Candy) Wolf; his sister, Shirley Tretter; his | ||||||
15 | daughter-in-law, Susan Wolf; his grandchildren, Renee Wolf, | ||||||
16 | Damon (Rose) Wolf, Erin Wolf, Dave (Sheila) Wolf, and Tanya | ||||||
17 | Kennedy; his great-grandchildren, Jake Wolf, J.D. Wolf, | ||||||
18 | Mackenzie Kennedy, and Gavin Kennedy; and his extended family | ||||||
19 | and many dear friends; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
21 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
22 | mourn the passing of former State Representative Sam W. Wolf, |

1 | and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and | ||||||
2 | all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the family of Representative Wolf as an expression | ||||||
5 | of our deepest sympathy.
