1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The House Special Investigative Committee of the | ||||||
3 | 95th General Assembly, which was constituted to determine if | ||||||
4 | cause existed to impeach Governor Rod R. Blagojevich, last met | ||||||
5 | and conducted a hearing on January 8, 2009, at which time the | ||||||
6 | Committee heard testimony from Roland Burris and thereafter on | ||||||
7 | that date concluded its business concerning the impeachment of | ||||||
8 | Rod R. Blagojevich by recommending impeachment to the full | ||||||
9 | House; and

10 | WHEREAS, Although the Special Investigative Committee was | ||||||
11 | reconstituted by the 96th General Assembly, it has not met or | ||||||
12 | held a hearing since January 8, 2009; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Senate convicted Rod R. Blagojevich | ||||||
14 | on January 29, 2009 and removed him from the office of Governor | ||||||
15 | and disqualified him from holding any public office of this | ||||||
16 | State, and judgment was entered on that date, thus concluding | ||||||
17 | the impeachment proceedings; and

18 | WHEREAS, An affidavit dated February 4, 2009 made by Roland | ||||||
19 | Burris, together with a transmittal letter dated February 5, | ||||||
20 | 2009 and an accompanying attachment, was mailed to the | ||||||
21 | Chairperson of the Special Investigative Committee; and

1 | WHEREAS, On February 17, 2009, the Speaker of the House | ||||||
2 | transmitted affidavits filed with the Committee and | ||||||
3 | transcripts of testimony before the Committee of Roland Burris | ||||||
4 | to the State's Attorney of Sangamon County, and on February 17, | ||||||
5 | 2009, copies of that transmittal letter, attachment, and | ||||||
6 | affidavit dated February 4, 2009 were posted on the General | ||||||
7 | Assembly website; therefore, be it

8 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
9 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
10 | the posting of the transmittal letter, attachment, and | ||||||
11 | affidavit on the website was for no other purpose than to make | ||||||
12 | the documents available for inspection; and be it further
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, That the transmittal letter, attachment, and | ||||||
14 | affidavit are not considered evidence before the Committee | ||||||
15 | because the Committee has not met since the receipt of those | ||||||
16 | documents, the documents have not been made part of the | ||||||
17 | Committee record, and the documents have not been admitted into | ||||||
18 | evidence.
