2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Deacon | ||||||
4 | Trez Van Pugh, Jr. of Chicago, who passed away on March 6, | ||||||
5 | 2013; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Deacon Pugh was born on April 12, 1919, to Trez | ||||||
7 | Van, Sr. and Beulah Ann Pugh in Oak Grove, Louisiana; he | ||||||
8 | graduated from Magnolia High School in Louisiana; he married | ||||||
9 | Pernella Lewis on June 13, 1942; he served in the armed forces | ||||||
10 | during World War II; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Deacon Pugh joined the Gospel Temple Missionary | ||||||
12 | Baptist Church in 1951 and has served as chairman of the Deacon | ||||||
13 | Board, superintendent, and teacher of the Sunday school; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Deacon Pugh worked as a truck driver for Material | ||||||
15 | Service Corporation and the Franklin Bindery Company for many | ||||||
16 | years; he co-owned Hurd-Pugh Scavenger Service and was an | ||||||
17 | innovator and a skilled craftsman; he enjoyed gardening, | ||||||
18 | watching wrestling, and studying the Word; and

19 | WHEREAS, Deacon Pugh was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
20 | his brother, William; and 2 of his grandchildren; and

1 | WHEREAS, Deacon Pugh is survived by his wife of over 70 | ||||||
2 | years, Pernella; his 6 children; his 18 grandchildren; his 32 | ||||||
3 | great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends; | ||||||
4 | therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
6 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
7 | we mourn the passing of Deacon Pugh, and extend our sincere | ||||||
8 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
9 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Deacon Pugh as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
